A MEDIUMINT has a smaller range (3 bytes; -8388608 through 8388607 or 0 through 16777215) than an INT (4 bytes; -2147483648 through 2147483647 or 0 through 4294967295). A MEDIUMTEXT field may contain more data (224 bytes) than a TEXT field (216 bytes). More information here and here
