The last two Pop Quiz entries seem to have garnered some interest, so let’s do another one.
Today’s question is quite short: What is the maximum amount of data you can store in a MyISAM table?

The maximum MyISAM table size is limited by the MySQL version, the OS and in particular the filesystem. Presuming a relatively recent MySQL version, in most cases this effectively comes out to: “The size of your hard drive”, although it seems to be a continual race between hard disk and OS vendors. The most popular OSs currently support table sizes of 2 or 4 TB; by setting the right options during CREATE TABLE, MyISAM tables may theoretically grow to 64 petabytes (65,536TB).
